I recently purchased my first new computer and am seeking to transfer my files and immages and I want to use the most efficient way to get my data into my new one. The two Pc’s run on different opporating systems XP and Vista and I have programs to transfer that have license agreements or key codes to use programs that I don’t have a CD-Rom available to install them into my new computer. This includes microsoft word as well as other programs and games that I don’t want to lose. Do I have other options with only one modem available? Or is this my most efficient way to accomplish the transfer? Both PC’s are emachines incase that makes a difference in the outcome. I found out that True Switch from AT&T would not work for transfering from a free yahoo email account to an AT&T email account and I had to transfer all of my contacts and stuff manually and it was a hassle.for me switch over. Do I have an easy job ahead of me or is it a walk in the park in compairisson to my email swich?

When i turn on my computer it says "a problem with the harddrive has been detected" and then "enter to continue" but once i press enter it allows me to boot up normally an get online ect…just like normal like nothin is wrong but that message is still drivin me nuts an makes me see it every time i reboot,is my harddrive going bad? and if so can i just buy a new one and my pc run fine? also will i have to buy a whole new windows XP home? i heard i could get one for free if i contact microsoft an give them my key to my old one,so if i do these things will my pc be right back up and running again?also i didn’t get this problem with the harddrive until i had to use my recovery cd which was pretty scratched cause i had a virus an it infected everything even windows so that is why i had to use the recovery disk? please someone help i don’t wanna have to buy a whole new computer over this, an i would buy a harddrive but i would rather not have 2 buy both windows AND HDD,better off with newPC
