Macbook Pro to T.V hook up? need help!?

so i have a mac book pro, and i just got a 50 inch panasonic HDTV. i wanna run my macbook though it so i can see my computer on the screen. now i have the Mini displayport to DVI adapter. and the dvi to SVGA adapter to SVGA cord to pc port in back of t.v…. following? i hope. well nothing is happening? do i need to set my macbook into a certain mode or something?

How do I make backup copies of DVDs?

I have a MacBook and I want to make some copies of DVDs. I tried using DVD Copy, but it brought the quality down. I’m looking for free software.. I don’t want to pay to do this. Anyone know what to do? I’ve heard DVD Shrink works, but I can’t seem to get it on my computer.

MACBOOK came up with flashing folder and question mark when i turned it on!!! major help?

okay so less than 3 hours ago i was working on my macbook. firefox was acting funny and the internet was running slow and the color wheel kept turning. i ended up having to shut it down by holding the power button (i know your not suppose to do that) when i turned it back on a few minutes ago it came up normal with the apple and it started to act weird and freeze again so i manually shut it down. i turn it back on and a folder with a question mark came up flashing. i shut it down. it works again
but
our school gave us these "brand new" mac books for school stuff and i think mine is anything less than new mine keeps freezing and ive been to our help desk many times for that
our admin stuff is block so theres not much i can do.

what does the flashing folder mean? will it appear again? what should i tell the help desk?
please please help

Can you switch keyboards for iMac's?

I’m interested in buying an iMac. I have a macbook that I adore and my PC desktop is starting to go down the tubes and really want to buy a Mac desktop when the time comes to replace it. However the only think holding me back on an iMac is that horribly thin keyboard that I happen to despise. I’ve asked this before other places, and no one will give me an answer, only stating that I’ll eventually love the thin keyboard because it takes up less space. This isn’t the case, as I’ve used the thin keyboards for a long time in the Mac Lab at school and have never gotten used to it (for those who suggest that).

Can you switch out Keyboards? I have a fairly new Wireless Keyboard and Mouse that I bought for my PC, could I use that keyboard? Thanks!

Should I get an iPad or an iMac?

Okay, so I’m having a hard time trying to decide whether I should buy an iPad or an iMac. I currently have a MacBook and I love it. My MacBook’s screen is terribly small so it’s really hard for me to multitask. I constantly game, chat, browse, and work on my computer and I almost ALWAYS have to slowly but surely work on one thing at a time due to the small screen. I KNOW I need to get something else to increase productivity.

I’m between the iPad and iMac.

With the iMac I will gain a crazy fast computer for gaming and such. All the gaming I do is fine for Macs but my games, while playable, aren’t amazing on my MacBook. It will also be convenient because when friends come over there will be two computers available. I will be able to multi task amazingly and I’ll even have a back up computer if need be.

With the iPad I would have sheer portability. Not only would I be able to multi task, I would also be able to multi task on the go! The iPad also has the amazing iBooks feature. I’ve been wanting to get back into reading for a long time now and this could be the perfect chance. On the other hand I would lose the ability to be able to have friends use the computer also, but the price on the iPad is great compared to the iMac.

well im going to college
and im in the arts program lol #1 amongst private and public colleges in the US

anyways. . .

they require me to get a FUCKING MAC
WHAT THE FUCK

because all of the cps at the art program are all MAC’s
i bet they signed a freaking contract so apple can get more money and the college can get free macs

i mean whats so good about a mac? the new processor is a i7. But a 2,200 mac isnt even i7 its i5. and they sell a 13 inch macbook pro for 1,900 dollars and its a freaking dual core. . . wtf. my dads laptop from last year is still i3 and it only cost 500 dollars and the battery lasts almost 8 hrs and the specs on that thing are almost as good as everything in 1,900 mac book pro. and the screens bigger.

huh whats so special about macs huh? why? windows 7 is the freaking same as mac. who cares about that dumb table bar on the bottom of the mac screen. same crap. ohh wowo the boot is faster. i dont care i can press the on button go get a drink of water and come back and my laptop is loaded.

and i only need CS4 photoshop or w.e. and when i was in high school my dell computers the shit crappy desktops ran CS4 just fine.

but my school wants me to spend 2,200 dollars a recomeded mac with a freaking i5 when i can get a regular laptop from MICROCENTER with a i5 for like 800 dollars. and technology moves so fast. ohhh wow i got a i7 wait 5 months its gonna be freaking i305. i am not spending 2,200 dollars on a MAC unless you can give me 20 reasons why its better. and why i should get it.

i do not care if it looks pretty im a guy not a girl.
i dont care if the boot up speed is 1 second. i can deal with 45 seconds or even a 1 min.
i have a 8 year old cp with intel pentium 4 and idk what all u mac users say about rebooting ur old cp all the time. this desktop don’t freeze. i can run it for 6 hrs and shit. and idk why u would want to run ur laptop for 20 hrs.
huh whats so special about OSX windows 7 is just fine.
i can still run CS4 and all my art programs.
and my dads cp comes with picasa that deals with all the photos. that works fine too.

so if u can’t think of 20 reasons
i’m just going to go to college with w.e other laptop other than MAC and just tell my professor to piss off cause im not buying a mac.

why would a 13 inch macbook pro with dual core cost almost as much as the 2,200 dollar i5 lol my bad.
well i mean art foundation kids don’t have to get it. but im doing illustration, photo, graphic design so they require me to have a MAC. if i was just doing illustration i could have gotten a 300 dollar dell. . .

still i dont get why u need a mac even for graphic design.
sigh i need a computer nerd to come and do all this comparing and price comparing and try to give me 20 reasons. . .cause the reasons i find on google are some bull shiet. . .

Why won’t blank CD’s work in my iMac?

I just got a refurbished iMac a week ago and today I picked up some blank Memorex black CD’s. I tried popping one in, and 30 secs later it spit it back out. I have tried using other ones in the pack and neither of them worked either. I then tried using one in my PC and it worked, so then I tried one in my Macbook and it worked too. What is going on, should I call Apple?

How to get a broken mac in FireWire mode?

I have a black MacBook and my logic board apparently broke. Before I send it to get repaired I’d like to back it up first, and a source told me it’s fairly easy to do it myself. I bought the external hard drive and I just need to know how to get my computer in firewire mode (since I am not able to turn it on, but I am sure there is a way to put it on firewire mode because a guy did it before. I am not able to contact the guy who did it though) . And I’d like to do after I get my Mac into FireWire mode.

Additional info: I have the latest version of the Mac system, and the external hard drive I will use is the "My Book 500 GB" .
Any help ??? =) Thanks !
