Please please please help
can’t afford new laptop and have lost the installation disc and cat afford to buy new installation disc, also i can download it but i can’t burn it because my disc is too small…….. i also can not reinstall because i don’t want to lose my programs because i can not back them up. too much stuff..!!!!
i have 15.5 gigabytes left remaining on my laptop so the problem can’t be bad memory
the last thing i did was type in terminal killall dock
and also installed shape shifter, liger and Application enhancer.
now i have installed them and nothing has changed.
i have also restarted numerous of times, booted in safe mode, and took the battery out and placed it back in.

I just got my brand new mac book pro laptop a couple of weeks ago. My sister wanted to use it, so then I let her. My sister’s hair was wet, and her hair was dripping, and a few drops of water on the keypad. I saw it happen, so then I quickly rushed over and wiped of the water and dried it, It was working a few seconds after it happened, and all of a sudden my key pad couldn’t click anything. So then I tried to restart the computer, but it wouldn’t let me, then it froze and shut down. So then I turned it back on again, the mouse was moving, but I could not click anything. So then I close my mac and let it sit there. An hour later, I open up my mac and it was still not clicking anything.
I am using a mouse for it and its really hard to use, and it is really getting on my nerves.
My mac book pro laptop is under warranty, if I bring it to the apple store, will they give me a knew one for free?

I took the liberty of talking to <REM> from Dell back and forth for a while about creating comparable systems to the iMac quote and the Mac Book Pro quote. We put together a few quotes (attached) with the bulk order discounts included. <REM> and I created an Optiplex 755 we both felt was a limited, but fairly comparable system to the iMac in a business environment; lacking Bluetooth support and the iSight camera and including only a RIAD configuration, as opposed to a single 320GB hard drive.
However, we both felt that a Latitude D630 we could come up with was not a good comparable system to the Mac Book Pro. Going back and forth with the specs of the Mac laptop, we concluded a comparable system would actually be a Dell XPS m1530. This creates a problem; the Dell XPS does not have the option of XP installed, and the entire XPS lineup does not have a good history of supporting the image creation and restoration that the Latitude lineup has.
The Dell latitude lineup was
designed for business use in mind, including a smaller, but faster, shock-absorbing hard drive for the businessman on the go, lacking an iSight camera and a larger screen; also, it was clearly not designed with different colors or with “beauty” in mind. The XPS lineup is a more comparable system to the Mac Book Pro. Both include the same possible options. The Latitude series is a business series. A model is released and subsequent revisions of this model are released with very limited variations. Too great of a variation would eliminate the possibility of the system to be imaged with the same system image.I do understand that this proposal is designed to promote fairness and a way to give freedom to our users to choose whichever they would like, which I firmly support. I also know that this plan was created to generate revenue. Although I am unsure of the financial workings in this plan, my limited understanding is that we are to present both the Dell and Apple laptops at an eq
equal price. If I am understanding this correctly; the considerably lower cost of the Dell (Latitude or XPS) will be used to subsidize the higher costs of the Macs.
One of the benefits of buying Dell, is the lower cost of the system. Dell was created as a business machine to cut costs for large companies. To present these systems beside each other as equal laptops at equal cost, in my opinion, would be a fallacy. Although I am with you 100% on whatever you decide, I would like to strongly voice my opinion now that these systems are not equal and the Dell systems should be issued a discount.
This email is written to my boss who wants to offer Dell and Apple systems at equal prices. I don’t believe this is right, as Dell users will be paying portions of Mac users systems, even when they are not equal.
I am NOT a fanboy. I simply want things to be fair. I’m primarily an Ubuntu user at home.

I have a mac book pro connected to a dell monitor at work. I have a wireless keyboard and mouse now. When I use the laptop keyboard, I can use shortcuts (ctrl t, ctrl v, ctrl c, etc…) But with my wireless keyboard, I cannot. I don’t know why. I just set this all up yesterday and have been trying to figure it out. I have already looked in the system preferences but can’t find anything. If anyone knows how I can do this please share? Having to use my mouse to do these simple things slows me down quite a bit- I do a lot of typing at work.
Thanks in advance!

Hi, I was wondering how do I boot my PC with Linux without actually installing it because it’s not just my computwer it’s the family computer and as such I really want to try Linux out but I need to know how to boot it up and run it without installing it. I know on a Mac Book all you do is put the disc in, turn off the Mac, hold down C key, and turn the mac back on so is it the same way with PC’s?
Also, wanted to add, I have a disc that came from the magazine Linux Format that has about 10 diffrent distros on the disc and I have Linux Ubuntu 7.10 on a disc, just to let you know.
Alright, I was one of the unlucky one’s and my computer will not boot ubuntu by simply putting it in and restarting. So what should I do?
