I saw a computer that I liked online, so I went to Circuit City to check it out. They said that the price was a little higher, but I wouldreceive a rebate. They also said that I had to pay about 250 more dollars for Norton,Office Student/Teacher, a back up disk, and to have them set it up and install the software. I asked if back up disks come with the computer? He said no, and that they are difficult to make. I thought that the software could be installed automatically when I put in the disk. He says that it is not that easy and I also need them to make programs stop running for optimal performance. He said that the company who makes them sends them out with all those programs, that I don’t need, running and it would take about three hours to stop them. Then it was another 249.00 for my insurance plan. All the extras made my laptop more than my budget so I haven’t gotten one yet. He also told me that only some AMD processors are better than onlysome intell processors, and that the intell processor that I was looking at was better than the AMD in the slightly lower priced laptop. When I asked why they didn’t tell me all that online, he said that they would have just directed me to the store to have all that stuff done. Was the guy correct, or trying to scam me? My kids have Mac Books. I really didn’t want to go apple because windows seems to be compatable with more stuff. Are apples more cost effective? Is it true that Vista Home Premium with Service pack 1 has a lot of problems?
I have a Dell windows 2000 professional inspirion laptop. This little computer has
outlasted my Dell XP 2004 computer. I bought it for a backup computer. I was looking
to purchase a small netbook, but realized that the netbooks are about the same size as
my small Dell. Instead of wasting money, I realized that maybe that I could try to buy a
wifi card to upgrade the computer. I just spent over 0 for my new computer last April.
I love computers and would like a small computer to take on the go when my husband is bowling on his league night or when he’s working out at the gym. The bowling alley and the gym both have free wifi. I have wireless cable internet for my main home computer and could use the same computer if it had a wireless card. Do I have to purchase a specific type of card or will any wireless card do?
I knew a little about computers, but I know they can be troublesome if not handled properly. I just went on a "free" MP3 download site to download a song and instead downloaded a big headache. I had to purchase malware software to clean up the mess. Thanks.

I just got my brand new mac book pro laptop a couple of weeks ago. My sister wanted to use it, so then I let her. My sister’s hair was wet, and her hair was dripping, and a few drops of water on the keypad. I saw it happen, so then I quickly rushed over and wiped of the water and dried it, It was working a few seconds after it happened, and all of a sudden my key pad couldn’t click anything. So then I tried to restart the computer, but it wouldn’t let me, then it froze and shut down. So then I turned it back on again, the mouse was moving, but I could not click anything. So then I close my mac and let it sit there. An hour later, I open up my mac and it was still not clicking anything.
I am using a mouse for it and its really hard to use, and it is really getting on my nerves.
My mac book pro laptop is under warranty, if I bring it to the apple store, will they give me a knew one for free?
I just got a new laptop and I want to back up or save my custom msn messenger emoticons so that I can add them to my new computer. Is there a way to do it that’s free, or not riddled with viruses/spyware/adware? I’ve had no luck so far! Please help!

I’m trying to install the new Yu-Gi-Oh! Online Duel Accelerator game onto my Vista laptop, but keep getting the message "Error 1303. The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory …\x86_microsoft.vc90.crt_1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b_9.0.30729.1_none_e163563597edeada. The installation cannot continue. Log on as an administrator or contact your system administrator". Obviously I’m already logged in as the administrator profile (the only profile on the laptop), yet I still get the message The game download was successful and from the official site too, but I try to install the downloaded game into the Program Files folder (as well as trying many other locations), and get stopped by the above error time and again. I was curious, so I typed the …/x86_microsoft path in the Start/Start Search box but I couldn’t find anything even close to it. So I wondered why the installer needed privileges from this apparantly non-existant place when I was choosing to download the game to Program Files.
I’ve tried right clicking the installer and running as administrator, creating a new account with administrator privileges and installing it on that account. I’ve tried installing in safe mode but it comes up with a message saying the installer isn’t available in safe mode, and that I should install out of safe mode. I’ve also followed tips on forums about granting full access to the installer, as well the ProgramData folder. I’ve disabled Windows Firewall and the Resident Shield in my free edition of AVG Anti Virus, but nothing seems to work I’ve even tried installing it onto my iPod but it still says it doesn’t have privileges =/
The error appears as soon as installation begins, but I caught a glimpse of what was being installed when the error appears and it was some DirectX program, which is included in their download package of the game. I’m not sure if that’s helpful.
I was wondering if anyone could help me. I’m useless with computers. The little I’ve achieved was through hours of trial and error, scaling pretty much every online topic on the matter. With this said, please don’t speak geek or post links to forums where others speak geek, I wont understand. Please don’t tell me to get a new computer or anything silly like that, my laptop can definately handle the game, I’m just struggling to install it.
My LCD screen has been messing up for a while and because it’s a rental I took it in to see if they could repair it while they gave me a replacement temporarily. I just got the laptop back today after 3 weeks and the problem is still persistent. The rental place said they couldn’t find anything wrong with it, and I’m not smart enough to figure it out on my own so It happened while my friend was over and he said it looks like LCD failure. What happens is the computer screen turns pink in the corners, and gets these grey lines going across it until the screen turns white in the center with the pink growing. Sometimes it has green in it too, and I don’t know how to fix it or if it can be fixed.
I have to fix this laptop for the time being until i can get a job and save up for an iMac.
Now!!!
Don't wait until everything including your family photos are gone.
Today, most people store their most valuable information on their computers without giving it a second thought to back up.
With so many free an inexpensive options available, do not delay even one more day.
Our family pc was hit with the fake Anitvirus Soft and it wiped everything out. Thank-goodness for online back up protection!
