Like i need heavy reassurance that I am not deleting anything from my original hard-drive. Will all my songs and everything be secure? I need to know that everything will be safe. How does it work?
P.S When i do a clean installment of Windows 7 (the reason I am backing up everything) do i have to reinstall the Macrium Reflect Free software?
I currently have MacBook 10.4, and purchased an upgrade 10.6 Snow Leopard.
However when I purchased the 10.6 snow leopard the Best Buy guy said to back up all my data and then delete it on my computer, erase it completely, and then pop in the Snow Leopard, and I should be good. Is that true? Do I need to know anything else?
I backed up all my data on "My Book for Mac" (External harddrive)
I’m not sure how many GB…my hard drive (Externally) holds 1 TB, and I bought the Mac Box Set includes: Mac OS X Snow leopard, iLife and iWork.
Someone told me this would free up space on my hard drive. All it does is back up files. I don’t want two files of everything. Shouldn’t it just hold all the pictures and stuff? Can I remove stuff if it’s on the external drive off my computer? How can I do this without messing up the computer? I know how to do the stuff in "my pictures" and stuff – I’m talking about all the pictures it "found" to backup that I didn’t even know were there. Thanks

All the manual that comes w/it has is how to install – no info on how to use it. No info on the website or readme. I guess they just think I should know!
My CPU died a while back so I got a new motherboard, RAM, CPU etc, everything but the hard drive and DVD drives.
Since I’ve got it back online it’s been a mess.
9 times out of 10 Windows fails to load or crashes while loading, and crashes or closes applications when in use.
Ive had errors ranging from "R6025 virtual function call" to one about pagefiling, and the PC sometimes restarts itself to tell me that the system has recovered from a serious error.
When i’ve run defrag a worrying amount of the files have come up in red and when i try to run scandisk the PC crashes.
I think its the hard drive thats screwed but I want to make sure before I shell out on a new one.
Any ideas anyone?
Cheers.
i was doing updates on my mac book and its closed and screen came up with "press down the power button and switch on the restart button" so i did as it said and press the power button and returned it back on and the same screen was still there so, what can i do to fix my mac book. any help would be appreciated, i really don’t want to have to lose my whole hard drive as i didn’t back it up… oops….. PLEASE HELP ME, i desperately need my computer back to normal…
So my computer go this virus and after i paid a 0 dollars for the annual tune-up just to get rid of it, i find out that when they did eliminate it, it had already affected the operating system. Best Buy’s Geek Squad has given me the option to pay another 100 bucks for the system restore and back-up plus 49.99 to save hardware in a hard drive…. I have just really given up on my Gateway and considered the choice of just getting a new laptop… and i have ended up having to choose to get a Dell, which i can get in one of the various bright colors, or a Mac Book. I was really going for the Mac Book, but after asking some who own one they say it’s not worth the price they cost and that many want Mac Books just because it’s Apple and the way it looks attracts many. Yet, some say it is worth it’s price,it’s great in preventing or even getting viruses-even to the point where you won’t get any at all.. What Do You Think I Should Do? Do You Like Your Mac Book, If you own one? Or Should i get a Dell? I know that this question might seem "stupid", you know, it’s Dell against one of Apple’s products, but i juts don’t own anything of Apple besides my iPhone, iTouch, and my Nano… PLease Help!! Thank You!!
I just got the Time Capsule for my Mac Book Pro and am trying to figure out if I can back up photos and music etc on there and still be able to access it if I delete it from my computers internal hard drive. In other words if I move pictures onto capsule and delete them from my internal hard drive and then attempt to look at them with iPhoto, what will happen??
Plus I know time machine does automatic backups but if I put a file on time capsule and delete it from my computer will the file be deleted from time capsule?
if it doesn’t show up on disk utilities does that mean i set it up wrong??
ok so i finally got my osx leopard disk in the mail and excitedly began to install on my imac(which had previously only ran windows and with only one partition) i loaded to leopard installer and partitioned my hard drive in two (192gb for mac in HFS+ and 40 for windows temporarily in HFS+) i successfully installed leopard but when i went to run boot camp it said "The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows." so my question is is there anyway to fix what ive done here without reinstalling leopard and formatting as 1 partition, mostly i just dont want to go through backing up all my stuff)
i recently bought a WD Essential Edition My Book Hard Drive of 1TB compatible with Mac and Windows. I bought it so that i could start my Time Machine on my mac and backup my windows computer aswell. I then backed up (have no idea if thats how you say it) my Windows Vista computer and then passed on to my mac. Time Machine told me that i had to erase all my contents on the Hard Drive in order to create a backup. So i did, and i started time machine. It erased everything on the Hard Drive but created a backup for my mac. When i then connected the Hard Drive in my windows, the computer couldn’t find it. i tried with many Windows computers but they can’t see the hard drive. Does this mean that the hard drive is now configured for mac? And is this inreversible?
tnku so much if you can answer id be very pleased!
(btw buying another hard drive for my windows isnt an option because they are very expensive where i live)

With so many free an inexpensive options available, do not delay even one more day.
Our family pc was hit with the fake Anitvirus Soft and it wiped everything out. Thank-goodness for online back up protection!
