I saw a computer that I liked online, so I went to Circuit City to check it out. They said that the price was a little higher, but I wouldreceive a rebate. They also said that I had to pay about 250 more dollars for Norton,Office Student/Teacher, a back up disk, and to have them set it up and install the software. I asked if back up disks come with the computer? He said no, and that they are difficult to make. I thought that the software could be installed automatically when I put in the disk. He says that it is not that easy and I also need them to make programs stop running for optimal performance. He said that the company who makes them sends them out with all those programs, that I don’t need, running and it would take about three hours to stop them. Then it was another 249.00 for my insurance plan. All the extras made my laptop more than my budget so I haven’t gotten one yet. He also told me that only some AMD processors are better than onlysome intell processors, and that the intell processor that I was looking at was better than the AMD in the slightly lower priced laptop. When I asked why they didn’t tell me all that online, he said that they would have just directed me to the store to have all that stuff done. Was the guy correct, or trying to scam me? My kids have Mac Books. I really didn’t want to go apple because windows seems to be compatable with more stuff. Are apples more cost effective? Is it true that Vista Home Premium with Service pack 1 has a lot of problems?
My computer shuts off by its self then when I try to turn it back on it will start to start up, it get to where there screen is white/gray and the apple comes up sometimes but then it’ll just shut down again, and then it’ll do this about three times by its self then it’ll turn and work normal. could this be happening because I need a new battery, that I’m waiting to get here. or is my computer just messed up ?
I have an older Apple Desktop, an iMac G5, and I used to be able to brag about how I could run two browsers, the dvd player, Word, itunes, and pretty much everything at once without it lagging. But lately I can barely run a browser without it being too much. I look at the activiy monitor and there will only be like 10 mb of free RAM. Why is it slowing and what do I need to do to speed it back up to its glory days?

okay so less than 3 hours ago i was working on my macbook. firefox was acting funny and the internet was running slow and the color wheel kept turning. i ended up having to shut it down by holding the power button (i know your not suppose to do that) when i turned it back on a few minutes ago it came up normal with the apple and it started to act weird and freeze again so i manually shut it down. i turn it back on and a folder with a question mark came up flashing. i shut it down. it works again
but
our school gave us these "brand new" mac books for school stuff and i think mine is anything less than new mine keeps freezing and ive been to our help desk many times for that
our admin stuff is block so theres not much i can do.
what does the flashing folder mean? will it appear again? what should i tell the help desk?
please please help

…unexpectedly quit. Now when I try using my Safari Browser it jumps back onto the desktop after about 10 seconds of the computer trying to pull it up. But then jumps back onto the desktop with a message box that reads: "The application Safari quit unexpectedly. The problem may have been caused by the ct_plugins plug-in. Mac OS X and other applications are not affected. Click Relaunch to launch the application again. Click Report to see more details or send a report to Apple.".
I’ve tried everything I know. From trashing Safari and reinstalling it to trashing Firefox and using Google Chrome in which I already had reinstalling Safari.
Can someone please help me with my Safari? I really would like to have my Safari back. By the way my Imac is one of the now older ones running the regular Leopard Software program.
So my computer go this virus and after i paid a 0 dollars for the annual tune-up just to get rid of it, i find out that when they did eliminate it, it had already affected the operating system. Best Buy’s Geek Squad has given me the option to pay another 100 bucks for the system restore and back-up plus 49.99 to save hardware in a hard drive…. I have just really given up on my Gateway and considered the choice of just getting a new laptop… and i have ended up having to choose to get a Dell, which i can get in one of the various bright colors, or a Mac Book. I was really going for the Mac Book, but after asking some who own one they say it’s not worth the price they cost and that many want Mac Books just because it’s Apple and the way it looks attracts many. Yet, some say it is worth it’s price,it’s great in preventing or even getting viruses-even to the point where you won’t get any at all.. What Do You Think I Should Do? Do You Like Your Mac Book, If you own one? Or Should i get a Dell? I know that this question might seem "stupid", you know, it’s Dell against one of Apple’s products, but i juts don’t own anything of Apple besides my iPhone, iTouch, and my Nano… PLease Help!! Thank You!!
