I’m not normally one to struggle with virus removal, but this one is by far the worst.. While I haven’t gone into Safe Mode etc.. I can’t get rid of it using anything..
If I open ANY applications – Task Manager, iTunes.. Anything, it comes up with a message that says "Application cannot be executed. The file (…).exe is infected. Do you want to activate your anti-virus software now?"
It has the option of yes or no. Naturally I pressed no for the first 10 times this came up, but then I pressed yes, and it still didn’t do anything. I can’t use any of my anti-virus programmes or even find the task in task manager and end it..
What can I do?!
(Remember that system restore is an application as well…)
Also, I have no idea where it came from since I haven’t been on any malicious sites, and it just appeared out of no where… And about 10 minutes ago I got what I thought was a pop-up which looked like one of those fake anti-virus viruses, I just closed it, and thought "I’ll deal with that later" but I haven’t seen it since.

This morning one of those fake virus software things showed up on my computer, Av security suite. I looked up how to get rid of it online, and I read I should restart in safe mode and download a remover. I downloaded the remover, though I cannot open and run it. I restarted my computer once agmore in regular mode and was bombarded with pop ups saying my computer was under attack/i needed anti-virus software, etc. I attempted to open the remover I downloaded and got a "application cannot be executed. the file [file name],exe is infected.] then a porn website popped up on my screen. I freaked out, turned my computer off, and went and bought an anti virus software from best buy. Only, I can’t use it. when I tried installing it, I got the same application error message. HELP! I can’t seem to open applications or install my anti virus software. I currently am running on safe mode.

Repost of my previous question,
I was visiting a site when a popup said "Warning!! the site you are on contains malware and trojans and will need to start up a online virus scan ect ect" it looked pretty legit and I haven’t encountered or heard of this scam. Anyway a screen popped up of my computer (a very bad copy aswell) took me a few seconds to go ’shit a virus’ and i exited as soon as i could and when i clicked x it said if you do not complete the scan your computer will still be infected but i left anyway.
I ran a virus scan on my actual anti-virus software twice
and ran a scan on malwarebytes and it came up with nothing! I also checked task manager and nothing suspicious was running
Do you think i have gotten anything?

Hi,
Recently today after being on my computer for a while all of a sudden a rectangular message box came up onto my screen and said that my laptop had received a virus infection. The message came from System Security (virus protection software). A new box popped up saying that it found malicious software, tracking cookies, and a number of other things. Normally I don’t use System Security as an anti-virus software, I tend to use McAfee only.
After THAT a message box came up from System Security showing a bunch of my document folders. In "MY DOCUMENTS" it said it has 103 trojan viruses or something of that kind, I don’t exactly remember it.
In the previous box that said I have tracking cookies, malicious software, etc. I clicked on a button to remove the detected files and it started to highlight through all the programs and folders as if it were deleting the virus/infections. (It had said that the trojan virus had come from an e-mail worm, and I highly doubt it was an e-mail worm since I haven’t opened up any spam, etc.)
Then as I went to enable security for System Security after it said it "finished" the scan and when I clicked "ON" to turn Security for my documents on for that antivirus software, it brought me to a page telling me to buy the latest version of System Security for this price, etc.
Now I’m confused as to where I got the virus and I’d like to know how I can remove it and if you think it’s fake or real.
Thank you. I may add additional details if needed.
I wasn’t on any out-of-the-ordinary site, either. The web site I was on at the time:
WWW. Lordsofpain .NET
Thank you very much to anyone could help. I’m sorry if my question isn’t clear or too vague.
thanks to the first answerer. I’m going to go about trying that and see what happens.
<<<<<< NEW EDIT >>>>>>: It says on my desktop in a small balloon that SpywareIEMonster activity has been detected. What could that be?

I recently got a virus on my computer. It displays fake virus alerts, disables all anti-virus software, and anything else that could possibly stop it, such as the task manager. The only solution I can see is to do a system restore. If anyone has ever had this virus before, how did you stop it?

My computer has Windows Vista, and is infected with the Security Tool fake anti-virus software. I don’t want to have to download anything to help delete it. I’ve manually removed Cleanup Antivirus on another computer, so I have some experience with this. I already deleted the .exe file of the virus, so I’m not being bombarded with fake warnings and fake virus scans yielding thousands of fake results. What are the other files to delete? And where are they located?
